Though my tennis skills leave much to be desired, my table-tennis, or ping-pong skills, are pretty dece, even if I do brag so myself. The bf suggested we have a few quiet ones at Miss Pings on Saturday night, and the prospect of playing something I am not inherently shit at was most welcome. Auckland City is sorely lacking in ping-pong playing establishments, so I’m glad this place now exists. There are two indoor tables and one outdoor. Luckily the night we went was quiet, so we were able to pretty much hog one table the whole night. Miss Pings also sells Vietnamese style food, but we got there after 9 PM so didn’t bother with eating. Their drinks menu is rather small, you can only order what’s written on the chalkboard next to the bar, but it doesn’t matter because all you should be drinking there is their delicious pre-brewed cocktail ‘Good Morning Vietnam’ – rum mixed with lemon, ginger and spices. It was seriously good, the perfect summer mix, though the bar staff say they’re concocting another cocktail with pineapple, which also sounds enticing. I’d love to come here again on a Sunday afternoon, and sip on some cocktails in the sun, in-between flexing my table tennis skills. Keen?
You can find Miss Pings at Shed 5 at the City Works Depot, 90 Wellesley Street. (Thanks to Shirl for taking the pics)
